Grams Day
My Grams was the absolute best human. She made every room full of sun and her snort laugh will live rent free forever in my memory.
Every crazy idea or dream I had she was always the first to say Let's hear it and when's that happening, or oh leanne that is amazing, you better tell me how it goes. She always was our biggest cheerleader.
Cancer took this beautiful soul from us on September 29th 2016. I can't believe it's been almost 8 years. It feels like just yesterday. Grief is no stranger to me. After her it was a couple handfuls of close friends (suicide, car accidents), our childhood dog (Ginger), a fantastic high school teacher (cancer), my Grandpa (dementia and then a fall and head injury). I don't share a lot of my grief online. I share parts with the people who need to hear it. There's been more since then but those 18 months were some of the hardest in my life. At 23 I learned fast about death and the process of grieving.
Grams Day is my honour to my Grams. This business - Art Arrows - would not exist without her. One of the last things she told me was to never stop creating. Being a fresh out of university student 18K in debt I told her I couldn't even afford Art supplies. She told me I'd figure it out - I always did, and so Art Arrows was born. When she passed I went through her jewelry box and found a beaded bracelet I had made her when I was around 5, she had kept it all those years right beside her best jewelry.. on Grams Day I will have similar styled bracelets (they have a glow in the dark star) for sale in honour of her and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Canadian Cancer Society. To those of you who wear your grams Day bracelets proudly - thank you. You help me keep her alive in spirit every time I spot them. My goal this year is to raise $500, I would love YOUR help in reaching this goal 💚
